Mother Tongue Cooking Club was founded in 2022 by Myles Snider (that's me).
I'm a chef, entrepreneur, and passionate home cook. I believe that cooking is one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal– it helps us eat healthier, save money, be creative, connect with nature, nurture our senses, foster community, and so much more.
My goal with Mother Tongue Cooking Club is to help you to become a more confident, savvy, creative, and empowered home cook. I'm not here to just teach you to follow recipes (though there are plenty of step-by-step instructions). I want to teach you to operate in the kitchen with the confidence of a seasoned chef.
Not only will I provide recipes and how-tos, but I'll also offer in-depth explanations of key culinary techniques, tips and tricks for running a better kitchen, ideas for meals to feed a crowd, quick weeknight dinner plans, suggested drink pairings, answers to your cooking questions, and so much more.

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in a family of cooks. My favorite memories from childhood involve big dinners with family and friends. My mom is a trained chef, and I've been cooking with and learning from her since I could hang by the kitchen counter.
After college, I studied at Centro Culinario Ambrosía in Mexico City and then cooked professionally at Hartwood, an open-fire, farm-to-table restaurant in Tulum. I've worked at food startups, done recipe development for a number of brands, and even started my own line of spice blends.
One thing that's been constant throughout my life is my love of home cooking. I'm often found experimenting, reading cookbooks, trying new recipes, coming up with my own concoctions, and hosting dinners with friends. Mother Tongue Cooking Club is where I'll share all of those things with you!
What We Cook
My cooking ethos is simple– I believe in cooking real food from scratch, sourced from the best places you can find.
You can expect to learn how to cook lots of different things, all of which generally lean healthy, wholesome, and flavorful. My goal is to teach you to cook a wide variety of different dishes– everything from easy weeknight meals to large feasts to feed a crew of people. I believe that cooking should be fun– it's a creative practice meant to bring people together communally.
I cook seasonally and shop locally whenever possible, but I take inspiration from a wide variety of global flavors and techniques. The food I love to cook combines great ingredients with tried and true techniques, and then layers in lots of different textures and flavors for complexity and balance. I consider myself a perpetual student, and I'm constantly learning (and teaching) new things. I'd love to have you join me on this journey!
